Tomalodon Always Wins

Crime-fighting superheroes, butterfly kisses, Monster Truck jams and intergalactic Star Wars...that is what little boys are made of.

There is no room in here for cancer...

Yet Thomas, our adorable, curious and fun-loving 4-year old nephew was diagnosed with  Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) last week. RMS is a childhood cancer that develops in the body’s soft tissues. Treatment usually includes chemotherapy to shrink the tumor and prevent new tumors from forming. Radiation typically begins shortly after chemo as an additional line of defense. Surgery is also a possibility.

Our beautiful Thomas started his aggressive chemotherapy treatments this week at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. We know he is in the most capable hands at MSK but it is a journey that will be no less than 9 months long and, as any parent knows, that is an eternity for a boy his age.

Aside from treatment, there will be countless doctor appointments for blood work, scans, and additional therapy which will involve dozens and dozens of trips in and out of Manhattan. To say the least this is going to be a long and exhaustive journey for Thomas and his parents, Caitlin and Tommy. It will also be expensive.

So many of you have reached out to us to ask how they can help during this very difficult time. We deeply believe in the power of love and prayer so we ask that you keep this family of five in your heart always. However, we also anticipate a significant financial burden as a result of Thomas’s diagnosis, which is why we have set up this financial aid campaign. We hope that even the smallest of donations will give Caitlin and Tommy the ability to focus entirely on Thomas’s treatment and recovery, and not the bills that accompany his diagnosis.

Together in prayer and love, we can rally around Thomas and his family to make this time a little easier. The funds raised will give the Glackins a little less to worry about so they can focus all of their time and energy on keeping Thomas happy, and getting him healthy.

We thank you all for generosity, love and support in whichever form you give it. Together we will all fight with Thomas until he is cured, because Tomalodons ALWAYS win!

With Gratitude,
The family of Thomas Glackin
