Water and Toilets Urgently Needed for Schools

Donation protected
Nigerian elementary school students are suffering through a public health crisis. Most schools currently have no access to water facilities of any kind, clean water, or toilets.

Right now, Nigerian elementary school students must defecate within their school environment, out in the open, with no recourse to remove the waste from their surroundings. These children are forced to do their business under cashew trees, in the shrubs... anywhere they can. Without proper sanitation facilities, these students are faced with major health concerns.

These pupils also have no access to water facilities of any kind, let alone purified water. They are forced to either walk miles to the nearest river (for communities with rivers), or buy water from water vendors--a huge economic burden for the vast majority of the students and their families. And with COVID-19 on the rise, Nigerian students need access to clean running water as student populations aim to stop the spread of the deadly virus.

Lack of proper water facilities remains a huge problem in Nigeria. 150 million Nigerians still lack access to clean water and basic sanitation facilities, causing 70,000 children below the age of five to die each year to water-borne diseases.

Please donate what you can – any form of help, including the sharing of this page, is greatly appreciated. Washing facilities and lavatories must be installed in schools before they fully re-open (they've been closed due to COVID-19). These children deserve to pursue their education without risking their personal health, but will need your help to do so.

Anything you're willing to give  will directly  fund the creation of water and sanitation facilities for these 30 Public Elementary Schools in Nigeria:
