Together for Cadillac: PFAS Health Solutions
Donation protected
My name is Brandy I live on W.Division st in Cadillac Mi. Over the past few months EGLE has tested the private wells of myself and neighbors for PFAS contamination. Our home came back at an alarming 16 PFOA and 11 PFOS along with others. Across the street from us are folks who also have extremely high numbers. We (my family) immediately went to Quest Diagnostics and had blood tests done “forever chemical blood testing” My NASEM is 28.19 yes “28.19”! The Dr.s have started me on an expire-mental approach of a medication for six months to see if it can “lower” the forever chemicals in my blood, as well as I need testing/imaging done every six months to check for cancers etc. Dr.after Dr. specialist's from here to GrandRapids have little to no experience treating for this forever chemical or the health effects associated with it. The Dr.s would like to do a health study on our city to know what levels are in who and what their health is. If nothing else it will help with the treatments of our children someday. When we had our blood tests done done it was $357 a Peice (once in awhile quest has a promotional code) once the test is paid for in full through their website then you are able to schedule this lab test locally there is a Quest Diagnostics Lab on Cobb St. kiddy corner from Munson Hospital. I will contact Quest and see if they can work with us and give a “discount code” for our citizens of Cadillac. My hope and goal is that we can ALL pitch in and help our neighbors get these blood tests so then in turn Dr.s can do their health study, treatments can be found and we will know what to expect in the future. I would start by making sure that every person who has cancer associated with PFAS are tested their EGLE report along with their “forever chemical blood test” could potentially show patterns then the individuals with illness and children. I am not asking for money for myself or my family we have already had this testing done. I am asking if you can give even $1 for your neighbors so that they can get the much needed testing done. $1 adds up! I had suggested a couple months ago if 357 people could give $1 per week $4 per month that would cover 4 tests at $357 a piece per month and keep going from there, some people didn’t agree stating why should we have to pay… I completely agree but if we can not help our neighbors and work together there is no one coming to save us except for saving ourselves at this point.
If you are comfortable emailing me your address, EGLE results of your well, and a list of your health conditions related or associated with PFAS your information will not be shared with anyone without your permission. [email redacted]
I would like to make sure that “forever chemical blood testing” is done in the order of persons with Cancers #1 persons with Diseases #2 Children #3 than the rest of the population. Your information through email would be the starting point in this journey.
There will be extensive financial records kept for any and ALL funds received. My thought is to cash out funding once a month and set up testing for however many people there are funds available to cover. The results for the blood testing take at-least 14days for you to receive back.If your numbers are high based on Quest you are entitled to a Dr. call via phone.
Our city has let us down tremendously by failing to inform the citizens that there was a creditable threat to our drinking water.Regardless of whom is at fault we need to stand up together and work together for the greater good of our community. There are lots of people working on lots of things all for our community It takes a village and we just so happen to have a city!
Thank you if for nothing else, for taking the time to read this.
I am not a fan of 2.9% and .30 fees coming off of someone’s donation but at this point I don’t know what else to do and we never know how we will be able to help someone without trying right! I plan to brainstorm other fundraising ideas as well such as “Bake Sales” etc.
as well as extensive record keeping I also plan to share this information with a credible and reputable person of the community as assurance on my behalf.
After testing is done and information is gathered I then plan to share said information with the medical community names omitted if preferred.
3/11/25 Update: I just got off the phone with a representative from Quest Diagnostics unfortunatly they are not able to give us a discount code although….. HAVE YOUR PHYSICIAN CALL THEM AT THIS NUMBER and they WILL accept insurance for the “Forever Chemical Blood Test!” What a blessing!1-866-697-8378
UPDATE:03/12/25- My physician tried to call Quest at the number that was provided by their representative. It does NOT work! They state they do NOT take lab orders via phone so again back to square 1. I hope that we are able to help some people by raising funds that is my hope.
Every cent of these donations will be used for the intended purpose and I Thank everyone for thinking of their family, neighbor, friend Kindness Matters! ❤️
Update:03/25/25- May 3rd 9am-4pm hoping to do a bake sale/silent auction for this cause! If you would like to participate/donate a baked good or item please reach out either through Facebook or this directly! Thank you so much even just for reading and sharing!
Together we CAN make a difference! ❤️
