Meet my friend, Billy. You probably know him as "that guy that's always waving". Lol because it's true, he always is! On his good days, bad days, all days. He has nowhere to call home but yet so many to call friend. Over the past month & a half many of you have helped keep a roof over Mr. Billy's head but unfortunately that day ends on Friday as we have exhausted funds we received along with much of our own to try & keep Billy in a room.
A group of individuals rallied together to try and get electricity to the building someone was letting him sleep in, before we got him a room, but the city made the decision to condemn that building so we are back at Square 1. We did get Billy some social security (YAY) although it's not much. He works 4 days a week (20ish) hours working a fryer while suffering from Parkinsons. He really tries to make it in this world and that's why so many of us want to help him.
It's a 1 year wait for HUD and a THREE year wait for public housing. We are trying everything but we don't have much to work with right now.
THIS IS WHERE WE NEED YOUR HELP! We are trying to find Billy a HOME!
I know this is a nearly impossible ask but you don't know if you don't ask!!
Billy is so grateful for the help he has already received and it has been beautiful to see so many people help make a difference! Very grateful to be a part of such a great community.
If anyone has any ideas for a place, please reach out!!! We just want to help ole Billy because sometimes people just need an extra hand in life.
Thank you for reading this far!!! Thank you to all of those who have helped the past month & a half! And thank you to all of those who have stopped to talk to Billy and give him rides. He let's me know about every one of you and laughs that so many people know his name now.
This has been quite the experience that we have been so grateful to be a part of. Even if it's all we could do, I know it has made a difference. #locallove
