Support Toby’s charity haircut - 5 years growth!

My 12 year old son Toby has avoided having his hair cut for 5 years. He has spent 5 years being mistaken for a girl and dealing with lots of reactions and discussions about his long mane!
Like many children with autism, he has sensory struggles and he has wanted to keep his hair long. A while back, we were reading a story about a boy with long hair who donated it to a charity that made wigs for children who has lost their hair through illness.
Toby decided that now is the time to have his beautiful long locks cut and he has chosen to donate his hair to the Little Princesses Trust, a charity who make wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.
At the exact time I was looking for a barber that was good with autistic children, I came across a post on a Facebook community page. Alex, a barber from Stevenage, working in Hitchin, said his ambition is to help children with special needs become more confident to get their hair cut. In his post Alex was offering to cut children’s hair in their homes to make it easier for them and their family members, and take away some of the sensory pressures. So I reached out to Alex and explained we were planning to donate Toby’s hair and it turned out Alex too had previously donated hair himself to the little Princess Trust! It was meant to be. Alex was so incredibly kind and supportive, he made an emotional process for me as a mum into a really positive experience. Thank you so much Alex! He can be found at Bridge Street Barbers in Hitchin
Toby has been so brave to do this and I could not be more proud of him! Any donation you can give will be gratefully received by the Little Princesses Trust. The money raised enables the Trust to provide wigs to those who need them and fund kinder, more effective treatments for childhood cancers.
