Support needed to enable my family to overcome a crisis

The beach, the river, the Church or a birthday party are our favourite places and those where you could probably find, my family and me. I am the first-born of a strong, united family of 4 siblings, my parents, 4 nieces and nephews, and in-laws. We have always supported each other, celebrated triumphs and confronted challenges together. It is because of my family that I am here today, appealing to your generosity and donations! My Mum taught us that if there was just a small piece of bread on our table, we would share it among all of us. I grew-up with that mindset. I share, I give, I help people and know the value of solidarity.

Early in 2021, my family and I found ourselves amid a strong storm. One that de-stabilized our lives, sapped our energy and undermined our sense of unity. We were confronted by security threats, great financial loss and our lives changed. One of my siblings who was an entrepreneur in my home country saw her business collapse and was subject to anger from creditors, security threats, legal proceedings and the loss of her assets. This situation impacted directly her children aged at that time 4, 8 and 22 year old. My nieces and nephews, parents and siblings, moved from being appreciated members of the community, instead living in isolation and danger. In my country of origin, many people have suffered from conflict and violence, and I was never indifferent to that. I was, however, part of the group who could describe the stunning mountains and biodiversity, forests, yellow butterflies, music, coffee and precious sunshine and sunsets my country offers. The situation my family and I confronted, showed me however that none of us are completely safe or free from difficult times.

I have supported my family for the last 3 years with my salary as an employee and through loans to repay indebtedness and cover daily needs. However, the family and my own resources have become exhausted, and we sold all our belongings to navigate the crisis. It is time to ask for additional support for us to be able to find our way out of the storm. I would deeply appreciate your donation for me and my family, which will be used to settle debts and prevent the separation of my sister from her children now aged 7, 11 and 25 as a consequence of the ongoing legal proceedings linked to the bankruptcy.
