Myself and some of my friends & family are going to be running the Edinburgh half marathon in May, raising money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association in memory of my incredible Grandad Tony O'Reilly (Rocky).

My Grandad was an extraordinary man, a living legend who left a lasting impact on all that knew him! Kind, generous, determined & such a family man. Despite living with this horrendous illness, he faced the challenges with complete and utter unwavering strength & grace, he will always be our hero. The same applies for my amazing Grandma too, who tirelessly cared for him 24/7 through out his illness, her strength & resilience were nothing short of incredible. The day of the run also just happens to be the day of my Grandma's 80th Birthday who will be there cheering us on ❤️.

MND is a rare neurological condition that causes the degeneration of the motor system (the cells and nerves in the brain and spinal cord which control the muscles). It is an incredibly cruel condition that affects a person's life & their families in every single way. There is no cure for MND but the more money & awareness that is raised, the more treatment & care there will be available to reduce the impact that the symptoms have on people's lives... and hopefully, one day, a cure will be found!

The MNDA are an amazing charity which provide essential support needed for people living with MND & their families too. Along with improving access to care, research and campaigning for those living with or affected by MND. We are very thankful to the MNDA for providing our family with kindness, understanding & support when we needed it most.
