Update 9/18/23:
Sarah has been home for almost a month. She is still limited on what she can lift for awhile yet. Everything is healing except for the one incision under her right breast is still not healed. She has to keep packing it and change it every day. Sarah still gets worn out easily.
Update:
Sarah had a surgery to put her new shunt In yesterday August 21st. She did great!
I just got a text from her today August 22 around 3:00pm, SHE IS HOME!!! Now the real healing can begins. Please still donate to their cause because Sarah still can't go back to work for awhile. They still have bills to pay and medical bills will be rolling in soon. God has blessed them so far and will keep on blessing them.
Thank you everyone who has helped already. My God Bless you all!
Hi, my name is Genny and I started this GoFund me page to help my son Brandon and my daughter in law Sarah with bills, medical expenses and kids schooling.
My daughter in law Sarah has Hydrocephalus and has a shunt. Well in December the doctors said Sarah was in Shunt failure but they only replaced the tubing.
Fast forward to July, and now Sarah hasn't been feeling well for a month or two and the doctors tell her she's fine. After numerous ER visits, days out of work the doctors finally realize that Sarah is in Shunt failure. Also found some old tubing had punctured her colon. On August 3rd Brandon took Sarah once again to the ER for severe nausea, headaches and pain in her stomach. Sarah sat all day on August 4th waiting for them to take her into surgery and finally around 7:00pm that evening Sarah went into a 4 hour surgery not only to remove the old shunt but to also fix her colon. Well Sunday afternoon on August 6th Sarah found out that the incision on her collarbone was infected. By Tuesday evening it was really bad she was on 5 antibiotics instead of 3 to try and clear up the infection. Turns out on Sunday morning August 13th the area around that incision busted open and then they had to lance it open and clean all the infection out.
During this time Sarah found out that they hadn't removed all the old tubing and it was what was causing the infection not to get better. So this morning August 15, Sarah had to go through another surgery to remove all that old tubing and to get all that infection cleaned out of her.
Now she has to wait till sometime next week for them to put in a new shunt which will mean another surgery for Sarah. The doctors haven't given her a timeline of how long or when she'll get to go home. Even when she goes home she will be limited to what she is able to do.
Also I feel there is going to be a lot of medical expenses coming in and they could use some help with that.
While all this is going on Brandon is working his full time job, taking care of their 4 children and trying to be supportive to his wife.
Please help if you feel lead to. May God Bless you all!! Thank you all in advance.
