Hey there,

my name is Jean, I go by Velops online and my dad has stage 4 lung cancer. He’s been diagnosed about a year and half ago and since then he’s been battling it with all he has. Unfortunately lately the battle has not been going his way at all so after all the different therapies he’s gone through doctors here in Canada were very pessimistic and my dad was overall not the most satisfied with the kind of treatment he was receiving. So he then decided to leave Canada for at least a few months to go back to his native country in Belgium to try his luck there. From what I know Belgium is a bit more advanced in terms of treatment for cancer and since it was the country that he was born in he generally felt more at ease being there for what would potentially be the end of his life. However things took a turn and almost as soon as he got there his body which was already considerably weakened completely gave up and he had to be hospitalized. He had a pneumonia, hearth problems and the most recent and most concerning ones have been on the brain side.. lt seems that the cancer got to his brain and now on top of everything he already has frequent epileptic crisis, confusion every time he wakes up and memory losses as well as other things have been added to the mix. Now they’re just trying to control the symptoms enough so he can peacefully rests for whatever time he has left.

Now comes the reason of this gofundme…

When things started to go south a bit my father knew he wanted to go to Belgium at least for a bit but was obviously worried about potentially not seeing my siblings and I ever again and so I made a promise .

The promise that I’d go visit him in Belgium if he were to not be able to come back to Canada because of his health. Things have now started to take this turn and much quicker than it was expected too. So my siblings and I are trying to rush ourselves to him but despite the money I have saved it may not be enough. I don’t mean to make myself seem more desperate than I really am. I can buy the plane tickets and everything but the days or potentially weeks I won’t be working will be quite tough on the financial side. Now obviously I will go no matter what but I’m looking for some help to at least get the tickets for me and maybe my siblings who aren’t much better financially than I am. I just want to see my dad potentially one last time
