Dr. Diaz has dedicated her life to caring for others. At just 17, she began studying

medicine in Colombia, where she completed seven rigorous years of training. For 19

years, she practiced as a physician in hospitals and emergency care, later earning

certification as a healthcare audit specialist.

In 2022, Dr. Diaz, her husband, and their son immigrated to Kelowna, BC, determined to

build a brighter future. Today, she works tirelessly—full-time as a dental assistant and

part-time cleaning offices—to support her family while pursuing her dream of practicing

medicine again.

Like many internationally trained physicians, Dr. Diaz faces a long, expensive, and

complex process to become licensed in Canada. These barriers harm not only skilled

doctors like her, but also our overburdened healthcare system. Everyone is acutely

aware how badly we need more Doctors!

We are raising funds to help Dr. Diaz begin this process. Our first goal is $2,500 to

cover the cost of submitting her credentials to the College of Physicians and Surgeons

of Canada. Once approved, additional steps and funding will be needed to complete the

licensing journey.

In addition to financial support, we’re also asking for help connecting Dr. Diaz with

opportunities in the medical field—finding meaningful work aligned with her skills will

strengthen her journey
