Hi, my name is Micah Durham. I am a thirty year old gay male living in Reidsville, NC. I've always imagined myself having it all (who hasn't).... A good job, nice house, loving husband, and a beautiful family. My vision of my life started coming together when I met my husband, Ethan Durham, in 2015 while we were both working at our local hospital. We dated for three years, got engaged, and then married in May of 2021. One of the many things that I love about Ethan is his dedication to family and desire to be a father. While we both enjoy being loving uncles and dads to our many fur babies, we feel prepared and ready to experience the journey of parenthood ourselves.
Like many parents, we have dreamed of seeing ourselves in our child. We would love to have a little Micah or Ethan running around one day. While we are both open to the idea of adoption, our ideal journey to parenthood would involve surrogacy. As you may already know, surrogacy can be a very expensive process, especially when the intended parents are both male. There's egg donation, IVF, embryo transfer, surrogacy, medical and legal expenses. Ethan and I have taken on extra shifts at work and have been saving as much as possible. We have also reached out to non-profit organizations to help fund our journey. Unfortunately, I was only able to find two non-profit organizations that offer support for gay men. We are in the process of applying for a chance to be one of the few couples selected for assistance. However, many families apply for these benefits each year, and the organizations only have enough funding to help a handful. Even if all of our hard work pays off and we have luck on our side, we are still expected to pay $30,000-$70,000 to our surrogate. It is common practice for insurance companies to exclude members of the LGBT community from any coverage for surrogacy services, so all of these expenses will have to be covered by our savings. I have started this page to help raise funds to supplement what we have saved.
I already have a great job, a loving home, and a wonderful husband. All we are missing is a beautiful baby to complete our family.
