Asking for help is not an easy task. It can be embarrassing and leaves one feeling quite vulnerable in front of others. But everybody needs help at some point in time in their lives. And I am hoping that creating this page is a source of help, even if just a little bit, for a family that is near and dear to my heart. They are some of the most generous and caring people that I know, and they would never ask for help. This GoFundMe page was created to bring support for my sister and brother in law and their beautiful young family. My 3 month old nephew has fought for his life since birth and has a long road ahead of him. Kayla and Andre have juggled their time between work, their 2 kids at home, and having somebody up at the hospital at all times to be by Tauren's side. Kayla's maternity leave is well over with and she may not even have a job to get back to. With Tauren living in the hospital for most of this upcoming year, it is going to be a struggle to continue to juggle all that they are currently faced with. Bills will need to be paid and a family sustained with only one income when both incomes are really needed. I am hoping to raise funds to help offset some of their expenses for this upcoming year so they can focus on time with Tauren and continue to provide their love, care, and support for him as he continues on this journey. "September 20, 2018. 12:59 p.m. changed my whole life. With so much excitement and feelings of being complete, we welcomed our third precious baby into our lives. Unbeknownst to us was the magnitude of things to come. Our sweet boy was born with a rare life threatening condition called Malrotation with developed Volvulus. In other words, his intestines didn't coil correctly while developing, so it was able to twist and cause blockage. During his first surgery, at 4 days old, is when we found out it had done just that and most of his small intestine was completely black from lack of blood. The surgeon untwisted everything and placed it back as close to normal as possible. His prognosis was grim, he had about a 2% chance of survival. We were told he would get sicker before possibly getting better. That night we received a phone call, basically telling us we should come say goodbye to our baby boy. It was our worst nightmare. Fast forward to today. Our little warrior is 3 months old. He is doing phenomenal for what he's been through. He has fought for his life since the day he was born and we will continue to fight with him. He has endured so much more in his 3 months of life than most people do in a lifetime. He has defied all odds thus far, and I know he's got it in him to defy more. By the grace of God, he has survived all 3 of his surgeries, 1 of which was a major reconstructive surgery. By the grace of God, he made it through the night that his doctors didn't think he would. By the grace of God, he has gained and continues to gain weight, even though his only nutrition is currently through IV. By the grace of God, he is happy and thriving. Even though he will spend most of his first year in the hospital, we are so grateful he is still here. It has been such an overwhelming journey, and we have a long road ahead, but we are so thankful and blessed with this little one, Tauren Kade Fenwick."
