This summer, The Tiyya Foundation turns 10! When we established the organization in 2010, more than 25 million people were displaced worldwide. According to the UNHCR, that number has exceeded 79.5 million people by the end of 2019.
Together, with our volunteer and donor community we have witnessed numerous crises over the years and continue to make significant impacts; despite a decrease in refugee resettlement numbers and increase in asylum seekers. No crisis however has impacted our refugee and asylum community greater than COVID-19.
We invite you to provide emergency relief to the most vulnerable! A private donor has agreed to match your gift up to $12,500. Help us reach our final goal of $25,000!
New families are susceptible to homelessness, food shortages, and isolation from society. Tiyya’s Emergency Relief Fund – Matching Campaign will provide direct assistance for families struggling as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas.
How you can help us reach our $12,500 Goal:
$1,000 - Emergency rent support (paid directly to leasing agencies and landlords)
$500 - Groceries, medical support, and utility bills
$250 - Household goods such as diapers, cleaning supplies, toiletries, etc
$100 - Toys, puzzles, and academic resources for kids to stay active during the summer
$50 - Crafts and activities for safe indoor family activities during Covid-19
* Any level is welcomed. We appreciate any donation you can make!
Since the stay-at-home orders were put into place in March, we’ve worked tirelessly to sustain our programs. Currently we are providing virtual tutoring, collecting and distributing household goods, issuing diaper donations, and hosting our one-for-one pantry distribution with the Orange County Resiliency Fund; just to name a few. Despite the obstacles, we have successfully served over 588 individuals on a monthly basis.
By supporting these vulnerable communities, we ensure that nobody is left behind during these difficult times. The future of our youth is dependent on our commitment to supporting each other, especially for those who are new to this country and struggling to reshape their lives.
We have created the Tiyya Emergency Relief Fund to provide direct assistance to new refugee and asylum families that have lived in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas since 2017 (3 years maximum).
Applications will open on September 1, 2020 via our website (www.tiyya.org ) and families will be selected as a first come / first serve basis.
Thank you for your support!
