Hi there,
Titus's story starts with an unidentified lump growing on his lower back over the past few months.
We took him into his primary physician, and they ended up referring us to a specialist up in Denver. We are initially from Colorado Springs.
The specialist was also a surgeon, and he wanted to get into the mass, cut it out, and then see what it is. As opposed to figuring out what it was and then cutting it out.
So Titus ended up having surgery done within two days of seeing the specialist.
The very next day, we got the call, the call that flipped our lives and the lives of Titus's three siblings upside down!
We were told he needs to have more testing done and that we needed to pack our bags and prepare to stay up in Aurora, CO, at the Children's Hospital for a week or more.
After labs, testing, and more surgery, the doctors were able to come up with a full diagnosis of what Titus has: Lymphoma, specifically B-LLy type.
As of right now, it is not in his bloodstream, bone marrow, or other vital organs. There is still a lesion forming under his skin, but it has not surfaced.
Titus has already started treatment, including chemotherapy, steroids, anti-nausea medicines, and medicines to help with infections that come up when going through these treatments.
The doctors are looking at a 2-year adventure ahead of us.
They will look to see if the small mass growing under his skin has grown more or has started to shrink in four weeks.
Our sweet, vibrant, and strong little boy has faced a lot in his first year and a half of life. We are super optimistic and hopeful about his treatment and recovery.
Mom and dad aren't working due to the COVID-19 pandemic that's influenced our lives; life will be a little bit more uncertain with all that is going on.
Any type of help or support is much needed and appreciated.
