Tip @ V.I.P is an event happening Thursday the 13th of February at the Sportsman Hotel to raise funds for Open Doors Youth Service and the launch of their medical fund! If you aren’t able to attend in person donating here is a great way to show support!

Right now, young people in Queensland are facing an urgent crisis. With the pause on gender-affirming medical care in the public system, many have no choice but to seek treatment through private providers—an overwhelming financial burden that puts their wellbeing at risk.

At Open Doors Youth Service (ODYS), we refuse to let cost be a barrier to essential care. That’s why we’re launching a Medical Fund to ensure that every young person can access the support they need to live as their authentic selves—without fear, without financial hardship, and without delay.

Open Doors Youth Service (ODYS) was created by community for community 25 years ago and remains Queensland’s only dedicated LGBTIQ+ Sistergirl & Brotherboy (SB) youth service. ODYS supports more than 550 LGBTIQ+ SB young people per year with 83% identifying as trans or gender diverse. ODYS is dedicated to:

Empowering LGBTIQ+ SB young people to live with pride as valued, celebrated, and authentic members of community

Engaging a workforce with lived experience and professional expertise

Providing safe spaces for young people to connect with peers and community to foster a sense of belonging

Advocating for the rights and needs of our young people to improve their access to resources, and to end discrimination and violence
