Cody and I are going to be doing IVF, starting this month! Some of you may already know this, but here’s a little back story as to why.

In October of 2020 we decided that we wanted to start a family. After being unsuccessful for quite some time we decided to seek some help by my OGBYN. In March 2022 I was put on medication to increase ovulation and I took that until September 2022. Still no luck while being on that medication.

So, our next option was a little more invasive; IUI. We had our first IUI procedure done on November 24. 2022, Thanksgiving day. Well, the IUI failed. It turned out to be a chemical pregnancy. That was one of the hardest things to go through during this process. Throughout the start of us trying to conceive we had many, many tests, procedures, blood draws and ultrasounds. Every single thing came back normal. Until we had our genetic testing done. That test finally gave us an “answer”. What we learned from the test is that I am a carrier of a gene that causes premature ovarian insufficiency. Basically it is causing my ovaries to decline and making them “old” for my age. So, with that being said IVF is our best bet at having a child of our own as well as future children. We are very scared, nervous, excited, all of the above for this journey we are about to endure.
