Help us build insulated/ventilated sleeping shelters for the coming winter!
Our team at Lanefab Design/Build crafts custom environmentally friendly homes, but we wanted to use those skills to try and help with the compounded covid and homelessness crises that we're seeing play out in Vancouver.
In response we've designed a 'Tiny Townhouse' that can work as a warm and secure sleeping shelter, or it can be expanded to a fully self contained tiny house with an accessible bathroom and kitchenette.
We currently have the prototype under construction, and we're looking for funding to finish this first one - and potentially build more.
Our hope is that these can be combined into Tiny House villages of 5 to 50 homes on vacant lots, development sites, church parking lots, city land etc.
Here are three articles from the Tyee covering the idea:
We already have donations from a number of building product suppliers, but we need some extra funds for the solar, heating, and ventilation systems.
If we can raise enough money then we can build more sleeping shelters, or build an accessible bathroom/kitchen unit.
