Tiny Home for Glenn
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Alicia (pictured on the right above) and I am a junior in high school in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am a 16 year old with a professional interest in architecture and this is my first project. My plan is to convert a small cargo trailer into a tiny home for Glenn (pictured on the left above), an ex-inmate who was in jail for 41 years for a crime he did not commit, before being released 4 years ago. Through working on the project, I have gotten to know him personally, and he is such a wonderful person. Knowing him has completely changed my view of what a "criminal" is. He had a very difficult childhood and started shoplifting when he was 12. His life of crime landed him in prison when he was only 21 years old.
Fortunately, Glenn encountered a rehabilitation program called GRIP (Guiding Rage Into Power https://insight-out.org/index.php/109-featured/116-grip-program), which provided the tools that enabled him to "turn the stigma of being a violent offender into a badge of being a non-violent Peacekeeper."

Housing in California is outrageously expensive. Glenn is currently working three jobs as a janitor and for 3 nights he sleeps in his mini-cooper car to be back in time for the shift of another job. Paying for housing is a daily worry for him. I hope to help him solve this problem by converting a cargo trailer (8.5 ft by 16 ft) into a tiny home for him.I was worried at first, about how tiny my home for him is but he assured me that for 41 years he shared a cell with another prisoner that was twice as small!
I put up my savings combined with help from my parents to buy the empty cargo trailer. The next step is to convert it into a real home for Glenn. That includes plumbing, electric work, furnishing, shower, compost toilet, solar panels, walling, flooring, cabinetry, kitchen appliances, and a million other things to consider. All of these expenses add up, and this is what the funds will be used for.
I bought the trailer.
I designed the basic layout.
I want to spend my entire summer building the house for Glenn to live in.
Will you help?
Glenn is beyond grateful that people want to do this for him. This is a complete dream come true for him, and together we are humbly asking you to join us to make that dream come true.
Below is a simple layout of the house and the prices of various aspects of the trailer that donations will contribute towards. The total costs add up to well over $23,000, not including miscellaneous labor costs.
