On January 25, 2026, Jessica and Svil experienced the most terrifying and miraculous moment of their lives — the unexpected arrival of their son, Leonardo Chudo Minshall-Rusanov.
While vacationing in the Bahamas, the unthinkable happened. Jessica required an emergent, life-saving cesarean section, and Leonardo entered the world far too soon. Born at just 26 weeks’ gestation and weighing only 1 pound, 12 ounces, this tiny fighter immediately began the battle of his life.
Leonardo’s name tells his story. Leonardo’s Bulgarian middle name, Chudo, means “miracle,” and from the very beginning, his life has embodied that name.
Since his birth, Leonardo required an emergent medical evacuation by plane to a high-level NICU in Florida, where he continues to receive critical, life-giving care.
Jessica and Svil are deeply grateful for the quick, life-saving care provided by Princess Hospital in the Bahamas, whose swift actions helped save both mother and baby. They are also incredibly thankful to now be back in the United States, where Leonardo is surrounded by a large, specialized team of NICU physicians, nurses, and therapists working tirelessly to support every opportunity for him to grow and thrive.
The journey ahead is expected to be a long one. With an extended NICU stay anticipated, Jessica and Svil now face months away from their home and family support in Ohio, along with significant and unexpected financial burdens — including an emergency medical transfer, ongoing NICU care, housing, travel, and time away from work.
We are asking for your prayer and support to help lift some of this weight from their shoulders, allowing them to focus fully on what matters most: being present for their miracle baby. Every donation, share, and prayer of encouragement makes a meaningful difference.
If you are able, please consider supporting Baby Leonardo — our Chudo — as he continues his fight, one tiny victory at a time.
