Olivia Jo Housman - Tiny but Mighty

Tiny but Mighty, Olivia Jo Housman, was born on February 7, 2020 weighing in at 13.9 oz. She has shown all of us what a true fighter looks like. Olivia has grown to over 8 lbs. and is still calling the NICU home. Livy started her journey in Cedar Rapids St. Lukes, moving to the University of Iowa, and now Chicago, IL at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. It’s almost like she knows she needs to fight hard to get home and meet Zoey, Cole and Cali and her extended family and friends and start a wonderful life with normal day to day challenges!
Olivia has recently been flown to Chicago to have surgery on her right eye. Due to Covid, her parents were unable to travel with her. After 5 long days, they were finally given the approval to make the trip and see their beautiful little girl.
After her arrival in Chicago, it was determined that Olivia had an infection and then breathing spells occurred. They were able to determine the source of the infection, but now surgery is pushed back until she is stable enough and infection is gone.
Jodi and Chase left for Chicago as soon as they got the okay to come. Olivia’s doctor shared after examining Olivia’s eyes that her left eye just has a couple spots that need attention but should be ok, if not 20/20, her right eye is a different story. He said as it is right now, she has no vision in that eye, surgery to reattach her retina should give her eye about a 60% chance of regaining any vision. Olivia is a warrior and we know with all the prayers she is receiving, this feisty little girl will let nothing slow her down.
Olivia has gone through more pokes, broken bones, blood transfusions, compressions, labs, tests, procedures, x-rays, doctors, nurses, therapists, moves from hospital to hospital, more tests, than most people have to endure in a lifetime. Olivia’s family is beyond ready to bring her home when she is ready, so she can take on a new, more normal journey.
Chase and Jodi are fortunate to have employers that are doing everything they can to allow them to be with Olivia, leaving one less thing for them to worry about.
Please, if you can, consider donating to help this little family with finances, medical bills, traveling expenses, time off work, and future needs for Olivia. Chase and Jodi are where they need to be, and where Olivia needs them to be. Olivia’s family appreciates the unbelievable community support that stretches all over the United States. The once smallest little Bobcat will someday know how many people were touched by her fight!!! With heavy hearts and a little reluctance Chase and Jodi agreed to let their family create this Go Fund Me, as Jodi and Chase believe all the prayers they have received over the past 167 days have been a huge part of Olivia’s accomplishments.
Thank you all!!!
