Tina Joslin & The Closure of Local Kelowna Studio
Donation protected
Hey!
My name is Kylee Glavine and I have been one of the studio managers at a local Kelowna Fitness studio for the past year. Throughout the last year, the studio team and I have worked tirelessly to support our community and create a space where everyone was welcome to come in for a smoothie, sweat through a killer bootcamp, or just have a laugh with friends. Our studio family was and still is a community like no other. We are a fitness studio that has gone through blood, sweat, and tears to try and stay open through all the hardships that the pandemic had placed on us. Despite giving it our all, we have unfortunately made the decision to close our doors and say goodbye to our Kelowna Fitness studio. It was an unforgettable 15 years and we could not have done any of it without our owner and leader Tina Joslin.
Tina Joslin is not new to the Kelowna community at all. You may have met her through coming to the studio, watching one of her dance/burlesque performances, or maybe even spotted her blue hair walking down Bernard. She has been and always will be an advocate for our local community and has sacrificed so much to allow us to sweat, smile, and operate for as long as we did.
Tina purchased the studio in 2014 after working at the studio since 2008 as an instructor, FOH employee, and childcare attendant. She loved the community and jumped at the first opportunity of buying the business. Right before she purchased the studio, she had also started her heels dance company Femme Fatale Dance! She completely immersed herself in being a business owner and leader for our teams.
Tina successfully ran the studio and her dance company until COVID hit the fitness industry hard in 2020.
While she managed to take the studio through all the closures and mandates, once the studio opened back up for the last time, she could not break even anymore.
In the last 7 months, Tina has emptied her personal and Femme Fatale Dance bank accounts to pay for the rent, payroll, and everything else so that we could continue to enjoy the studio that we knew and loved.
Although she would never ask for help, myself and the studio community would so appreciate it if you would be willing to donate to Tina to help her recover from the financial strain that she has faced for months. Any donations, small or large will be used to help pay debt that she has incurred, including debt to the landlord, COVID loans, credit cards and other incredibly large business expenses that we cannot begin to understand. It is because of Tina that a large part of the Kelowna community had a space to workout, connect, and be a part of a family. Tina has given so much to our community that we now ask that the community give back to her and we support one of the strongest, most inspiring people I know.
Thank you in advance & with love,
