Tim's Second Chance...

We created this fundraiser to provide support to a loving father, husband, son, uncle, and brother, Tim Paternostro. It is hard to fathom the difficult health journey Tim has been on over the past 14 years. Yet, over this time, his family and close friends have witnessed this avid runner, weightlifter, and successful professional become stifled by multiple health issues. These issues culminated into a month-long (and continuing) hospital stay and a life-saving liver transplant that happened at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore on Monday, June 26, 2023.

We are extremely grateful for the exceptional care Tim is receiving from the transplant team at Johns Hopkins. And our hearts overflow with appreciation for the loving gift of life offered by his donor. Tim is feeling blessed and lucky to have this second chance.

As you can imagine, the costs for Tim’s care have exceeded his family’s wildest imagination. Tim’s wife, Mary Cay, and the kids have been staying in a hotel in Baltimore for the past two weeks and his discharge date has yet to be established. Like many families who experience a challenging and unexpected health situation, time away from work, travel expenses, and bills overwhelm the opportunity to focus on Tim and his recovery.

The road ahead is a long and difficult one. Following Tim’s release from Johns Hopkins, he will make weekly/bi-weekly trips back to Baltimore into the foreseeable future. It is with much humility and grace that we ask for your support of Tim and his family through this difficult time.

As some of you may know, our family created a foundation to support families facing cancer in our community following the loss of our sister and father to cancer. Each week we read stories about families facing the financial struggles that a cancer diagnosis brings. And we see firsthand how a benevolent gift can make an immediate difference in the lives of families like Tim’s.

Creating this fundraiser on this platform was a tough decision for many reasons. We understand how blessed we are and how tough times are for so many families right now. If you are unable to donate, please pray for Tim and his family that they may continue to flourish in God’s loving graces.
