Timmy's Heart Needs Your Support
Donation protected
Timmy is battling myocarditis (heart failure) from a virus he had back in January. His heart function is currently at 22%. He went to the hospital in Hombolt County CA and was transferred by plane to UCSF and has been there for a week. He is currently stable but high risk and needs to monitored closely. We have also found out he is type 2 diabetic in this process. He is on several very expensive heart medications as well some diabetic medications. He has undergone extensive testing to rule out many things and confirm his diagnosis. Timmy is responding well to the medications and we have already seen small signs of improvement. At this time they are preparing to release him from the hospital and he will continue to recover at home with close monitoring and follow up appointments at OHSU in Oregon. He has had to miss work off and on since January and he may continue to be out of work for 1-3 months depending upon how he is responding to treatment. It will be a lot of waiting, watching, and following up. He is planning to try to begin working in one month on light duty and minimal hours to see how he does with that. ( his Dr has cleared this) There are basically three possible outcomes for Timmy. 1. He could make a full recovery (3-6 months time) and not need heart medications. 2. He could partially recover but still need those medications for his lifetime as well follow up visits and monitoring by a cardiologist. There would also be a possibility that he would need a defibrillator placed.
3. He could not recover heart function and need a heart transplant.
We are hopeful for a full recovery for Tim! In the meantime he will be staying in Oregon for a month to recover, do his follow up visits, and adjust to the new changes needed in his diet and lifestyle with the help of friends and family.
Timmy is in good spirits and ready to overcome this We hope to give him some love and support to help him get through this. He is a special guy with the best heart!
