Time Is Running Out—Help Me Protect My Daughter

A Mother’s Fight for Safety, Justice, and Full Custody

For ten years, I endured emotional, psychological, financial and sexual abuse at the hands of my ex-husband. When I finally found the strength to leave, I believed we could begin to heal.

But for the past two and a half years—since our divorce—the abuse hasn’t stopped. It has simply changed form. My ex has been using the legal system as a weapon to continue controlling and punishing me, and it’s affecting the one person I care about most: our daughter. While we currently share 50/50 parenting rights, he has been actively pursuing full custody in an ongoing attempt to remove me from our daughter's life.

He has lied in court, manipulated our daughter, and used his mother’s financial resources to relentlessly fight me for sole custody—not out of love or concern, but as a continuation of the abuse.

I’ve worked with three lawyers in the last two and a half years. Each has run up my legal fees—now totaling over $40,000—with no final resolution. My ex’s lawyer continues to threaten and intimidate me in emails and in court, while I struggle just to be heard.

This is not just a legal battle—it is an emotional and financial one. And it is threatening to strip my daughter of her safety, her truth, and the loving family that surrounds her.

My daughter is part of a strong, close-knit family. She has three aunts, all with their own families, and five young cousins she loves dearly. She has grandparents who cherish her, and a mother who would do anything to protect her. But my ex is trying to separate her from all of us.

I am now turning to my community—to anyone who believes that no child should suffer in silence, and no mother should be forced to choose between safety and bankruptcy.
