Tijuana Refugee Shelter Community Garden Project

In the hills of Divina Providencia, Tijuana, a rural church has become home to over 300 refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers at a time. Nearby the Templo Embajadores de Jesus shelter is a small school, a Haitian shelter, and a slowly-developing community garden. With greater resources, we will revitalize the garden and empower the shelters’ residents to grow their own nutritious, organic produce. By strategically investing in the garden’s equipment and infrastructure, we can improve the capacity and output of produce by 80%, reduce the shelter’s monthly food costs, and involve the schoolkids in workshops on sustainability and gardening. We hope to raise $5000, and will use that funding for:

·      Vertical planters
·      A new shade tarp
·      A water collection system
·      Seeds and medicinal herbs
·      Child-sized tool kits

Your donation will be used to diversify diets, engage shelter residents, and bolster the sense of community for hundreds of migrant families.
