National Three Peaks for Gorgeous George
Tom Busbridge, Tom Baldwin, Elliot Shiels, Dan Cordwell, Eddie Bristow, Ryan Baldwin and Duane Brand will be taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge on 14th August aiming to complete all three mountains up and down within 24 hours.
The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland (Ben Nevis 1345m), England (Scafell Pike 978m) and Wales (Snowdon 1085m), within 24 hours. The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft)! The 24 hours also includes the 462 mile long drive between the mountains. This should take roughly 10 hours in total only giving us 14 hours to get up and down all 3 mountains. We will start the ascent at the base of Ben Nevis at 6am and plan to be finished before 6am the following day back in the car park at the base of Snowdon.
We wanted to find a good cause to raise funds for. Gorgeous George goes to school with my step daughter, and has recently been diagnosed with a Grade IV Glioblastoma, a type of tumour that is incredibly aggressive and very rarely found in children. George is just 12 years old.
There are no known cures for this tumour, however there are treatment options available which could give them more time. They're just not available in this country and are at a substantial cost.
When we discussed doing this challenge to raise funds for George we were unanimous that we all wanted to help him and his family.
Any pennies and pounds you can donate in support will be massively appreciated and go a long way in keeping us motivated during our training and the challenge on the day.
