I am raising money to help three women who are currently detained in California after being separated from their children more than two months ago. They need money to (1) make phone calls to their children (2) post bond provided they are released on bond as early as NEXT WEEK (July 4th week) and (3) survive until they can reunify with their children and families on other states. Please help me help them:
Marbel, Olga, and Morena fled their Central American homes with their children after surviving years of violence at the hands of intimate partners and powerful gangs, desperate to find safety for their families. All three crossed the United States border to seek asylum. All three were referred by CBP for illegal entry prosecution, ripped from their children aged 8 to 17. All three have been separated from their children for the duration of their time in Marshal’s custody and now in ICE custody. Their ability to communicate with their children has been extremely limited.
The National Immigrant Justice Center first met with these mothers in criminal custody weeks after they entered the United States; not one of them had been told where their children were taken or been permitted to speak with them. These strong women have survived horrors in their young lives – including rape, sexual violence inflicted upon their children, and the murder of family members – yet our government’s act of tearing them from their children has devastated them and compelled them consider abandoning their bona fide claims for asylum.

More information that GoFundMe has asked me to include:
I am an attorney in Atlanta who directs the pro bono work of lawyers at my law firm. Through my work, I come into contact with a number of immigrants and organizations that work with immigrants.
The three women for whom I set up this campaign are detained in San Diego and represented by the NationaI Immigrant Justice Center and pro bono attorneys from a different firm.
The funds will be used principally to pay the bonds that will be required in order for the women to be released from the Detention Center. Any funds that remain will be used to help them make phone calls from the Detention Center (by placing money on their commissary accounts) and to help them once they are released from custody.
The bond funds will be transferred to the sponsors for each of these women, who will then be responsible for securing the bonds and assisting the women with their commissary accounts and transitioning to the community. I, Tamara Caldas, will personally be the "beneficiary" of the campaign so that I can quickly secure money orders to send to the appropriate agency once bond is ordered for each of this women.
Thank you again for your generosity!
