Roscrea needs your help!

Donation protected
On 11th January the citizens of my home town Roscrea were informed that the only remaining hotel - Racket Hall was closing to the public (that very day) to house 160 asylum seekers. Since then citizens of the town have been protesting day & night (at times in freezing conditions). The protest is vitally important to ensuring the government and the nation are aware of the following:

1. Roscrea needs a hotel, without such a facility there are just 9 beds to accommodate visitors to the town and very few facilities for parties, weddings etc.
2. Whilst asylum seekers are more than welcome, the town cannot cope with the numbers they have already accepted (85% of the total asylum seeks for the whole of Tipperary county): healthcare, education, facilities, available jobs are all limited and by adding an addition 160 on top of the hundreds already established will be crippling to the town and it’s people.
3. The government have not assessed the viability of removing the functioning hotel, of the social & economic impact on the town, nor have they consulted with the citizens of the town and this is NOT ACCEPTABLE… the citizens of the town, as well as us who have come from the town are not willing to accept the government making decisions that have not been assessed or consulted upon!!!!!

This page has been set up to aid the protesters to KEEP GOING - to provide supplies such as fuel, umbrellas, wet gear, food, beverages and anything else that will enable them to keep up this important fight!

Please give what you can and share a link to this Go Fund Me page far and wide!
