Yesterday in Twentynine Palms my big brother was arrested and wrongfully charged with possession of firearms and ammunition.

it sounds wishy washy, but let me explain.

A few years ago my brother, Thomas, had suffered multiple episodes of mania while enlisted in the army. Experiencing extreme anxiety, internal voices, and even eloping. He was charged with grand larceny after stealing a vehicle when attempting to return home in California where our family is located.

After several months of isolation and uncertainty in jail in New York, Thomas was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder alongside his already existing autism diagnosis. He was finally allowed to return home on probation. Since then he has found steady work, new coping mechanisms, and focuses on rehabilitation.

Though on 4/16/2026, nearly 10 different officers appeared with 2 canines to search the home. After locating 2 weapons that belonged to the homeowner that had been in a locked section of the home. Thomas couldn’t speak on their presence since he hadn’t been aware they existed. Ultimately, he was arrested. Now his parole has been violated and he could be facing up to 5 years in prison.

I hope that someone who has family experiencing mental health crisis or have experienced it will see this and want to help. My brother is sensitive, endearing and extremely smart. Please, please help us get him the legal support he needs. He doesn’t deserve to be treated like a criminal.
