Thomas Horton’s Eagle Scout Project

Hello! My name is Thomas Horton, and I am a member of both Troop 18 and our charter organization Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church. Throughout my years in both of these communities I have had a lot of service experience, but the community garden by the North DeKalb mall has always been a place I’ve enjoyed working at. Knowing that this garden gives refugees the opportunity to grow their own produce makes working there all the more gratifying. This garden is a space for people of all backgrounds. It connects people to the land, and lets them pursue healthy living. For these reasons I have decided to build a work table and sitting area by the garden as my Eagle Scout project, to be used during the harvest and help the gardeners with their work. Unfortunately, with lumber prices so high, my family and I are unable to fund the project ourselves, which is why we need your help. The project will be underway starting Saturday the 22nd, and is scheduled to be completed the following Saturday. Thank you!
