My name is Will, and I have a one and a half year-old little potato named Ollie. Ollie was born into severe drug withdrawal and unfortunately never got to have a relationship with his mom. I found out through a friend that he was potentially my son and after a few weeks of tracking him down and another couple months of working with CPS I was granted sole guardianship over Oliver. He is almost 2 now and we have a little one bedroom apartment and are living out quite the little love affair.

Oliver could not have been born to a more willing and dedicated father. For the last 16 years or so I’ve been bartending and managing nightclubs and bars. But unfortunately, the hours required in that industry are not conducive to single handedly raising a newborn. I have been approved for a grant that will pay for barber school and allow me to start a new career in which I can make my own hours and be more present in my son‘s life. The purpose of this account is to raise money to cover our rent and bills for the time that I will be attending school. I will still be working part time, but the more hours I have to work the longer the schooling will take.

I have made a lot of mistakes in my life. I genuinely don’t feel like I deserve anything and have a very difficult time asking for things. But I understand now that it isn’t simply that I can’t work late hours, but in order to be on top of my mental health, and maintain my sobriety, I have to find an alternative career path. And I will do whatever it takes to provide a safe environment for my son to grow up in. Thank you.
