Thijs and Sebastian's Walk for Superheroes

Hello Everyone,
It is the Kilga Bros (Thijs and Sebastian) and we have something very important to tell you about. We love challenges and our Mom set us a very special challenge that we will need your help to accomplish.
As some of you already know, due to COVID, our Mom is homeschooling us this year. Several times a week our Mom shows us the newspapers to teach us what is going on in the world. She explains to us what is happening now, what happened in the past, and what the present could mean in the future.
A few months ago, our Mom told us about Captain Sir Tom Moore and the amazing things he accomplished in his life.
Who was Captain Sir Tom Moore?
Captain Tom Moore was a British Army officer, who served in Burma and India during World War II. Captain Tom raised money for charity in the run-up to his 100th birthday during the COVID pandemic. Captain Tom raised more than £30 million for the NHS (National Health Service) by walking laps in his garden. He also got a UK number one single with the song “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
Captain Tom is an example of an ordinary man, who did an extraordinary thing.
Unfortunately, Captain Tom passed away on February 2, 2021 and as our Mom watched his funeral last Saturday, she challenged us to come up with a project to honor his life and legacy of giving to others. That is how we came up with “Thijs and Sebastian’s Walk for Superheroes.”
What is the challenge?
Our challenge is to walk at least 20 miles together within the next 30 days and fundraise at least $950. We have to walk the challenge together in honor of the song “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” We will be raising money for our 3 favorite places:
1. Care Southcoast (http://www.caresouthcoast.com) – an animal charity
2. Boston Children’s Hospital (https://www.childrenshospital.org)
3. Angels Anonymous (https://www.angelsanonymousfr.com) – a food pantry
Where does superheroes come into all of this?
A superhero is someone who helps others and puts a smile on their face. A superhero can also be someone fighting a hidden challenge that they try every day to overcome.
All the volunteers, doctors and nurses at Boston Children’s Hospital, Care Southcoast, and Angels Anonymous are superheroes because they do good for people and animals every day.
We are also superheroes too! Every day our family deals with the challenges of anxiety (Thijs) and ataxia (Sebastian). Anxiety and ataxia are not easy, but we can do our best to overcome it because we walk together and not alone.
What is ataxia? What is anxiety?
Ataxia is a rare condition affecting about 150,000 people in the US. People with ataxia often have trouble with balance, coordination, speech, and swallowing. It usually gets worse with time.
Anxiety means that you feel tense and get worried a lot.
What helps ataxia and anxiety?
EXERCISE!!!
We are getting our walking shoes ready and we hope that you will pull your wallets out and help us raise some money!!!
