They Took My Kids with a Lie. Cleared—Now Help Me Fight

I’m a father first, an educator second.

My name is Dr. Fiacre Bienvenu. I was raising two teens—15 and 13—until one false news story tore them from my life.

In November 2023, WPLG Local10 published a false article accusing me of child abuse—allegations fabricated by my ex. This came ten years after our divorce—after a full decade of co-parenting without a single claim. Since then, every legal body involved—the Department of Children and Families (DCF), domestic violence court, and criminal court—has fully cleared me. I never pled guilty, never took a plea deal, never entered a program or class. I stood on truth—and I was exonerated.

Yet despite formal requests and court documents proving my innocence, WPLG has refused to take the article down and retract it from the other platforms where they distributed it.

The damage has been devastating—both psychological and tangible. Though I still hold legal 50/50 custody, I haven’t seen or spoken to my children since that night—more than 17 months ago. They no longer respond to my calls, texts, or emails. My ex used the article to accomplish what she couldn’t with the arrest alone: total alienation.

Worse still, the article’s psychological toll has made my children targets of bullying and isolation. They’ve been pushed into therapy—for trauma rooted in a lie. My children are growing up defined by something they didn’t do, burdened by trauma and silence they never deserved. What should have been a childhood of promise has become a struggle under the weight of falsehood. Their joy, their sense of safety, their relationship with their father—taken.

I’m suing WPLG for $3.25 million in damages and to force them to remove the article from the Internet and retract it from the other platforms the fed it. But the climb to justice is steep—and financially draining.
