The Tie That Binds

Donation protected

Family Is, a family advocacy, whose mission is to help heal those wounds, house in the spirit of today's African-American families.

On Saturday June 1st (originally slated for April 27th), Reginald Williams, the Executive Director of Family Is, will be joined by several professional men who will share lunch - at Busboys and Poets - with approximately 25 boys between the ages of 8 and 15 in the event entitled "The Tie That Binds."

In addition to lunch our lads will be taught, by a clothier, how to tie a tie. I believe that learning how to tie a tie and getting the lesson from men provides innumerous value to those boys.

The tie tying lesson will be complemented with each lad being measured (fitted) and given their measurements on a card that will include a message of encouragement. As additionally encouragement, each lad will be given a monogrammed shirt and a tie.

All of the boys attending "The Tie That Binds" are products of single parent-female headed households.

"Small boys become BIG MEN through the influence of BIG MEN who care about small boys."

Gentlemen, I hope that you will help make this event successful by choosing to adopting a lad for lunch. We have estimated that it will cost - per lad - about $60 (shirt, tie, cost of lunch), but any donations will be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks for your support and May God continue to be a blessing to you.
