The Rottie Family - TX

Donation protected
The Rottie Family in Houston, TX was dumped at a waste disposal dump site in Humble, TX. A Rescuer spotted the family of a Mom, Dad, and 2 puppies. One of the puppies had a back left leg injury. Assumed to have been hit by a car. The whole family was in terrible shape and starving to death. The Rescuer began feeding and watering them. Our Rescue, A Rottie Rescue, Inc., was contacted for help with the family on Satuday, November 12, 2016. We stepped up without hesitation. Our Rescue immediately took the family into our Rescue to provide them with immediate medical treatment and safety.

The Rescuer who had been feeding the family had not seen the injured puppy since Friday, November 11, 2016. The lost injured puppy was still missing when another Rescuer at ourRescue's request picked up the family for transport to Abbott Animal Clinic in Houston, TX on Saturday evening, November 12, 2016. Rescuers searched on Saturday, Sunday and Monday for the lost injured puppy to no avail. We all feared the worst had happened to the lost and injured puppy.

Then a MIRACLE! Sherri Green, founder of A Rottie Rescue, Inc. was tagged on a shelter post of the Harris County, TX shelter by a FB friend on Monday morning, November 14, 2016. The shelter had a 5 month old Female Rottweiler puppy (the same age as the Rottie family puppy that was aleady rescued) , she had a left back leg inury assumed to have been hit by a car, with a skin condition at the shelter! She had been turned in by a Good Samaritan who found her on a street next to the dump site where the Rottie Family had been living! The Good Samaritan turned her into the shelter on Friday, November 11, 2016 the same day that our lost injured puppy was last seen.

We compared the shelter photos to our photos of the lost injured puppy and they matched Perfectly!!! She has a very distinctive back end and very poor tail dock. We had found our lost injured puppy!!!

The Harris County, TX shelter released the sick injured puppy now named, NINA, to our Rescue on 11.15.2016.  She was immediately transported from the shelter to Abbott Animal Clinic in Houston, TX.

Sadly, upon examination, the Vet recommended ampuation of NINA'S left hind leg due to the massive amount of infection n the leg.   We arranged for transport of NINA to our Vet in ICU at I-20 Animal Hospital in Arlington, TX on 11.16.2016.   We requested 4 different opinions from Vets in 3 different cities.  After looking at NINA's xrays all concur that due to multiple breaks and infection in the bone the leg needs to be amputated.

NINA is not stable enough for surgery until probably 11.21.2016.  She is severely anemic.  NINA received a blood transfusion on 11.16.2016.

The Mom, who has been named, Nala, is heartworm +. Her future heartworm treatment costs are not included in this fundraiser.

All 4 family members have Sarcoptic Mange,  infections, they had hookworms, NINA also had whips, and all suffer from malnutrition.

Sasha, Nala, and the puppy Bella cannot be spayed and neutered until approxiately 11.26.2016 because they have to be stablized.   The Dad, Sasha, has a testicle that did not drop. His neuter will be invasive.

CBC profiles were run on all 4 family members.  NINA's was the only one abnormal due to the severe anemia.

As of 11.18.2016 we are estimating charges for the family to be as follows:

Abbott Animal Clinic, Houston, TX statement ending  on 11.20.2016 = $2234.74

Spays and Neuter = $ 500
