The American Indian Aid Association seeks to raise awareness toward the hardships endured by neglected tribes of American Indians nationwide in an effort to provide aid for this group of people.
Currently, the members of this tribe are enduring extreme hardships and are dying or committing suicide due to the harsh winters and poverty. The proceeds we receive from this page will supply the Pine Ridge Reservation, the poorest region of all the United States, with blankets, food, toiletries, books, and other basic necessities.
97% of the people that live on the reservation live far below the U.S. federal poverty line with a median household income ranging between $2,600 and $3,500 per year. The average life expectancy on Pine Ridge is the lowest in the United States at 66.81 years. Temperatures in the area also can reach over 110 degrees in the summer and can reach 50 degrees below zero or worse in the winter.
So far we are in the beginning stages of fundraising, but we hope to raise around 3,000 dollars. No donation is too small and all donations are impactful and are extremely appreciated. The money for this campaign will be used to provide heating for 24 households (434 people) in the Pine Ridge Reservation.
Thank you,
American Indian Aid Association
