The Year 11s celebrate their Bishop Luffa Journey

Welcome to the gofundme page for the Bishop Luffa Year 11 Prom. If you find yourself here, you most likely have a child in Year 11 or know one and hope to help the school put on the best Prom yet for them!

The Bishop Luffa PFA raises money throughout the year in order to provide funds to create events, experiences or fund equipment so that all of our children at Bishop Luffa have an opportunity to benefit from them in some way.

The Year 11 Prom is one such event that is funded by the PFA and organised in collaboration with the school. The last few years have seen very successful Proms held in a marquee hired by the PFA. Owing to rising costs that are affecting everyone, and despite negotiations which reduced the cost, the cost of hiring the marquee this year exceeds last year’s figures.

Holding the Prom in the marquee has made the event even more popular with the Year 11s to celebrate the culmination of their school life so a collective decision was made to continue this each year despite the increases. It is important to all involved that the Prom is accessible to every single Year 11 and this means we have kept the ticket prices as low as possible and reasonable. The combination of these two factors means there is a shortfall for the cost of the Marquee hire and available PFA funds.

Given that the Year 11 have the matter of GCSEs to contend with, it did not seem fair to burden them with the pressures of fundraising to cover his year’s shortfall. The PFA is so few in numbers that it is difficult for those already committed to catering for and organising various events to take on additional responsibilities of fundraising.

So… A few parents and carers have expressed a willingness to make a small contribution to try to narrow the gap between the marquee hire and PFA funds available in order to give the Year 11 children a wonderful celebratory evening to remember. This has led to creation of this gofundme page. There is no obligation to donate but if a large number of parents and carers who have the means to spare a few pounds to help us reach our target it would be very gratefully appreciated by everyone involved in putting on this event and all of our children attending.
