In Memory of Tom Wright - a safe home for his family

Please give if you can! I’m a widowed single mom with bills and repairs piling up. Our bathroom floor is rotting underneath, the shower and toilet leaking, and all need to be replaced.

Ben and Stella. Our two amazing kids. I am asking for help for them. I know we all want the best for our kids, my husband and I always did whatever we could to make their lives better. Nothing was ever perfect, but it was just right for our family.

My husband Tom was the stay at home dad who took care of us all. He was there for the kids all the time; a chaperone on field trips, home on sick days, our personal chef, the all around loving and caring father that was all I needed in a partner. I was able to have a career at a great company as the primary breadwinner. We made ends meet and did our best to give them experiences and lessons that would last a lifetime.

That all changed in March 2023. He was taken from us by a painful battle with cancer. He was 47. Now that he’s gone I am trying to do that by myself. Since we lost him they have needed me more than ever. Everyday life became a struggle, learning to live in his absence. He has been missed in every moment of our lives. As a teen and preteen they already were going through some of the critical times of growth in life. I had to leave my position and focus all of my energy on them to help get through their darkest times.

In the span of 2 years they went through more trauma than I had in my whole life. They lost close family members; an uncle, an aunt, a grandfather, their great grandmother, and in the middle of all that their father.

We have made it to a point where they now have hope for the future. I started working again in the beginning of the year, catching up on bills and repairs left to the side. I am trying to get past survival mode, but with every step forward I feel like I take 2 steps back financially. I have done all the repairs I can do myself, stretched every dollar to keep us in our home and food on the table. I can’t catch up.

We are in quicksand. We need a lifeline, please be that. Anything helps!
