2023-24 Winter Homeless Shelter in Salida, CO
Tax deductible
Imagine it's 10 degrees and snowing. It's getting dark, you're wet and cold, and you have nowhere to spend the night. This is no imagination exercise for those experiencing homelessness; it is their reality each and every winter night. For those without a safe and warm place to sleep, shelter is not a matter of convenience, it's a matter of life and death. During the winter of 2023-24 Chaffee County Hospitality Inc. (CCHI), a local non-profit, is dedicated to providing shelter to men and women, families with children, as well as for those who identify as LGBTQ+. Shelters are open from 8:30 p.m. - 8:30 a.m. every night from November 1 - April 30. This is our fifth winter providing this service. The goal of this campaign is to raise $75,000 to pay shelter staff, motel rooms, and supplies.
A shelter for men will be located at the Salida First Christian Church, and a shelter for women will be located at the Salida United Methodist Church . Families with children and those who identify as trans or non-binary will be lodged in local motels.
For these shelters to become a reality, we need to raise $75,000. Besides this GoFundMe page, donations may also be given to Chaffee County Hospitality Inc. and mailed to the First Presbyterian Church, 7 Poncha Blvd., Salida, CO 81201.
Salida is a caring community and members of the CCHI board thank you for your generous donations.
