The William Young Growth Fund for Female Athletes

Over the last six months, Billy has been remembered for many things, especially his smile and for making those around him laugh. Yet since he passed away unexpectedly, something has stood out even more--his generosity.

Even as he lived a peaceful life full of the things that brought him joy, he ensured he took care of everyone around him...from his family to his neighbours and anyone else who crossed his path. He gave so quietly and consistently that it almost went unnoticed.

So to honour his memory and legacy, The Young Family is raising funds for the growth and development of young female athletes. These funds will MATCH a donation of $20,000 from his estate to sponsor the first HOOPQUEENS Summer League, the first PAID women's basketball league.

Bill not only loved basketball, playing all over Scarborough and Toronto, he also coached both the girls and boys teams at his daughter's high school. More than that, he was integral in having the first girl play on a boys team.

The Young Family wants to continue his legacy by giving back and supporting women in sport.
