Hi friends,

The Westminster Hotel, lovingly known as The Pit, has had a hard go of it these past few days. On the evening of January 8th a water main break began flooding the building and has caused significant damage to our beloved hangout.

After receiving an overwhelming amount of love and support from all of you, along with many requests for a fundraiser, we've decided to put this together as a way to keep you all informed and as a place for you to send your incredible support.

The Pit has been the meeting place for reunions, birthdays, wakes, home rebuildings and so much music for as long as anyone can remember. It is the place we all go when we need a little help from our friends and now it would seem, it is our turn.

2026 was to be our year of renewal. Renovation plans were being made, grants were being written, crews were being hired. This has been a devastating blow but we remain determined.

As water still continues to flow into the building the full extent of the damage has yet to be ascertained. There is a long road ahead of us but we are not afraid of a little hard work. There appears to be only one option, rebuild.

We want to send out a massive thank you to all of our patrons over the years, to the musicians who bring so much energy to this place, to this community that has been endlessly supportive. We also want to thank all of the crews and community members working so hard to keep this town going and return us all to normalcy.

Just a quick note for those asking about insurance, yes of course we have insurance. Anyone who has been through the insurance process knows that it is often neither quick nor fair. It will unfortunately not come close to covering the true value of all that has been damaged.
