Hey Everyone,
I'm thrilled to share a meaningful fundraising project to support the Cloud Water Zen Centre's vision of establishing a retreat centre near Glasgow. On the 14th of September, I'm taking on the challenge of swimming (1k), cycling (20k) and running (9k) on a course situated around the chilly shores of Loch Morlich in Aviemore.
The training so far has involved many long cycle rides and swims in Scotland's resevoirs
The course itself is called the Long Hard Durty due to it's challenging ascent up Creag a Ghreusaiche (435m) and off road mountain-biking section comprising of black and red routes, and 1000m swim in Loch Morlich.
Why a retreat centre?
Zen Buddhism is about providing an opportunity to step back from the busyness of daily life and get a fresh perspective on our lives. This can help us respond more skillfully and effectively to the challenges we all face. A country facility like this can be a wonderful place to offer this. Our aim is to establish a space where people come for meditation retreats, periods of residential living, and a whole range of different courses and events.
Who will benefit?
While our main objective is to offer Buddhist retreats and courses, we also aim to extend this space to the broader community. Our vision is to develop a non-profit venue that accommodates a diverse range of groups interested in activities like yoga, Tai Chi, mindfulness, and beyond. Given the typically high costs associated with these pursuits, our mission is to provide an accessible space where individuals can engage in such practices affordably.
I firmly believe in the impact this retreat centre can have, and I'm asking for your support to help make it a reality.
Thank you for being a part of this journey! Your generosity and support will directly benefit all those who visit our retreat centre.
With gratitude,
Tom
