The Waterfront Festival

We're COMET CIC, a not-for-profit community interest company based in Barry South Wales. We are hosting our first event - The Waterfront Festival Sponsored by Evans Pharmacy, at The Goodsheds / Academy Espresso Bar on Saturday 29th and Sun 30th April 2023. The event will showcase the live final of Mack Events Search For a Star Competition - looking for young talented musicians. We will also be hosting free music workshops in partnership with Glamorgan Music School and will be showcasing a wide range of local talented musicians, with performers from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Glamorgan Brass Band, Vale Voices and Barry Male Voice Choir and a selection of local musicians also performing at the event. This is a free event for everyone in the community Sponsored by Evans Pharmacy.

With the cost of living crisis, Glamorgan Music School have seen a significant drop in young musicians being able to afford musical instruments and lessons. We feel very strongly that creativity / the arts should not become something that only a privileged few can afford, so we would like to provide financial support to disadvantaged families to provide opportunities for them to flourish. We're looking to raise funds to support young musicians in the local community. We want to provide instruments, offer free workshops and lessons and ultimately help to guide young people into a career in music by providing bursaries at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. Whilst also encouraging footfall, tourism and goodwill to local businesses in Barry. Any donations would be greatly received and would go towards making these goals a reality.
