The Vench Youth & Play Sessions
The Youth & Play Sector has suffered from huge reductions in Government funding in recent years, unfortunately many youth & play centres have closed down as a result. We are working hard with our staff, volunteers and users to protect the Vench and ensure it is still here to provide a safe and vibrant place for future generations of Lockleaze children, young people and families.
We rely on three main income streams:
Grant funding: we recieve support for specific projects from trusts and the local authority, including Holiday Activities Fund, Nisbet Trust, Quartet CF and Sports England
Traded income: we hire the playground and building to various organisations and local community groups. We have special rates for not-for-profit groups, find out more here.
Public donations: we strongly believe that play and youth provision should be free and accessible to every young person in Lockleaze, so we do not charge for our sessions. However, we do ask those who can afford to donate to help contribute to the significant costs of maintaining and opening an adventure playground and help us sustain our services into the future.
It costs up to £500 to run one play session, which averages roughly £10 per child - we know a lot of families can't afford to cover that but any donations towards these costs are very gratefully received and will be used to fund future play sessions at The Vench.
Thank you for all your help and support!!
