Hi, I am writing on behalf of our entire community. Recently we found out that Lisa Pepe-Van Houten was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia(AML). Lisa and her husband Cory have 3 beautiful children - Alex, Izzy, & Joe.

I have cancer. It took me months to say those words out loud. One week I was on vacation. The next week I was in the ER, diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and admitted immediately. I was terrified. The treatment plan at that hospital didn't do as much as they had hoped. Then it seemed like something went wrong each day I was there. I missed my kids and Cory, Mom and Pop immensely. After 6 weeks there I was transferred to Roswell Park. It was the best thing that could have happened to me. The staff here are amazing, all of them. Every treatment I received went according to plan and after one round of their chemo treatment I went into remission and was able to go home

Now I am back at Roswell for a bone marrow transplant.

It's terrifying but I know that I am in the right hands. I have a perfect marrow match and even better that match is Karen Pepe Scott There aren't enough words to express how incredibly lucky I am to have a sister like her.

Karen you are giving me life!
