The Unstoppable Lilee Shreffler

Donation protected
On August 31st, 2012, 12 year old Lilee Shreffler just wanted to help by bringing in the family garbage cans, when she was struck by a fast moving vehicle. By nothing short of a miracle, she survived, but was brutally injured from head to toe. She had a partially collapsed lung, her brain was bleeding, an eye injury, and head split down the middle. She was left with several broken bones including her neck at the C-6 vertebrae, a fractured scapula/shoulder, the sacrum/pelvic bone, and her femur which required a pinning, and 2 subsequent surgeries. She spent months in a wheelchair, and then progressed to a walker while she healed physically, and personally, she developed a powerful inner strength for a girl so young. When it was time to rebuild her life and body, she joined local dance classes to gain muscle and coordination. That choice changed her entire life.
With big faith and determination, Lilee not only recovered, she now thrives!! She has written published articles for teens, and has become an accomplished performer in theater and dance, and is also an impressive public speaker! She’s got the sweetest heart and an intense love for people! Her personality is funny and BIG! She even holds best talent, 1st runner up, and Congeniality titles in the Miss America pageant system! Her story didn’t end that day, and in the years since, she’s devoted her life to teaching dance, and mentoring younger girls. She’s a true role model and leader, at church, and in her community.
We are asking for help because unfortunately, in our state, pedestrians do not have the “right-of-way”, with the sole exception of posted cross walks. She received absolutely no compensation for medical bills, or injuries of any kind. As Lilee is entering adulthood, she is in need of a vehicle, while she prepares for work and college. The Shreffler family serves as Directors of the nonprofit, faith based, addiction recovery program of Oklahoma Adult & Teen Challenge. We hope to show our support to this bright, and exceptional young woman, and hope you would consider doing the same. Whether she is volunteering her time to teach young children, or devoting her summer to intern at youth camp, Lilee gives freely and selflessly, asking for nothing in return. Help us bless a girl who continually blesses others!
