Help the Suarezes get the Last Laff

Hi. My name is Liam, and I'm a small part of the sometimes shaky Vancouver comedy scene. There is a man who is a much bigger part, and if you've spent more than a month doing comedy in or around Vancouver, you likely know him as well: Alex Suarez. I've known Alex for just under a year, but it didn't take long for me to learn that people refer to him as the King of Comedy in the Fraser Valley, for good reason. Alex has been the driver and powerhouse of comedy in the Valley. He pours his heart and soul into his love of the craft, and the community. He gives us great spots and fun places to bomb. He believes in himself and everyone around him, and just recently, he opened a comedy club called Last Laffs in Abbotsford, and it's an absolute blast to perform and to watch comedy in.

If you're a part of the Vancouver comedy community, I'm sure most of you have heard at this point that Alex Suarez's wife, Gaby, was recently in a car accident. Thankfully, nobody was seriously injured and the family is safe. Unfortunately, the car is wrecked. This happened a few days after the opening weekend of Last Laffs. Opening any kind of venue is hard. Opening a Comedy club is a huge gamble. Trying to run a club without a car? Well that's a whole new level of challenge. But this also goes beyond the club. Alex and Gaby have 2 children, and getting a family of 4 around without a car is no small task.

I have no doubt that Alex and Gaby will be able to navigate this curveball thrown at them. They are intelligent, resourceful, and will find a way. But if you're like me, you live in or around Vancouver, and physically being in Abbotsford to help can be difficult. But even just a few dollars from the great people of both the comedy scene through the Valley and Vancouver could help greatly. Comedy is a community, and this is why communities exist. Alex and Gaby have done so much for us, to support us, and to make Vancouver Comedy Great Again. Now it's our turn to show how much we appreciate everything they have done for us. Whether they use the money towards a new car, Uber rides, the club, or just a nice meal out with the family after such a chaotic period of time, let's step up show our love and support. Any amount helps. If not for the sake of supporting them, maybe do it to help ensure we continue to get great spots.
