On June 15th, a lightning strike hit trees on a neighboring property, sparking a fire that quickly spread to a detached two story shed belonging to a family that is very dear to my heart. Within a short time, the fire destroyed years of hard work, memories, and valuable belongings. They lost expensive tools, clothing, a refrigerator, seasonal decorations collected over many years, and countless miscellaneous items stored inside the shed. The intense heat and damage also caused a nearby brick wall to crack and break.
On top of the property loss, because this incident occurred in a county area served by Rural Metro Fire Department, the family will also be responsible for costs associated with the emergency fire response. This unexpected expense adds yet another financial burden during an already difficult time.
If you are wondering about insurance, unfortunately, because the structure was detached from the home, their insurance coverage is very limited and will only cover a small portion of the loss. The amount they will receive is not nearly enough to replace the items that were destroyed.
If you know Terry and Brenda Smith, you know how hardworking they are. They have spent years working tirelessly for everything they have and are always willing to lend a helping hand to others. They are the kind of people who show up when someone needs support without expecting anything in return.
Now they are facing an unexpected hardship and need our help. Any donation, no matter the amount, will make a difference and help them begin replacing essential items and recovering from this devastating loss. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser with your family and friends.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and prayers.
