The suffering families of Cité Soleil, Haiti

Hello everyone!

Throughout my life, I have recognized the value of giving back to my community through volunteering and performing community service to help others. It is for this reason I am reaching out today. I have been lucky enough to live a happy and healthy life, and I feel that I should give back to people who have not been as lucky as me.

A couple summers ago I went on a mission trip to Haiti, and it drastically changed the way I thought about many things. We went to the city of Port-au-Prince, which is the capital city of Haiti. More specifically, we were in the neighborhoods of Cité Soleil, which is one of the poorest places in Haiti. Our job on this mission trip was to help malnourished children get daily essentials that we take for granted each day. Some of our tasks included delivering water to the local people, stopping by orphanages to help care for starving children, and holding kids who had never felt love from their families or may have not even known who was and was not a part of their family. The way these people were forced to live seemed inhumane to me. Coming from a country where we have everything we need; it was awful to see the way some of these children and families had to live day after day.

With that being said, I have wanted to raise money for a charity for a while now, and this was the one I chose because of the impact it had on me and the others that went on this mission trip. Therefore, I am asking all of you to help me raise as much money as possible in the next couple of months to help the people of Haiti. 100% of the proceeds raised will be donated to Healing Haiti, an organization that works directly with the poor of Haiti. I am asking all of you to please consider a donation, even a couple dollars go a long way to help these families. If you are not able to donate, a prayer goes a long way as well!
