Please join our efforts to help the Sepulveda family as they embrace the responsibility to raise and support Juan’s children. He never asked for anything but I’m sure he would be grateful and at peace knowing his children are supported.

Juan joined our golf family at Spring Valley over sixteen years ago. By 2005 he had demonstrated his commitment and talents in golf course management and accepted the assistant superintendent position at Pleasanton Golf Center. He worked tirelessly to help manage and develop the property, develop professionally and raise a young family. In 2012 he took over as the golf course superintendent and while the daily maintenance operations were demanding he also served as the working foreman on all construction projects.
 
In 2018, ready for a change and new challenges, Juan took a position with the Alameda County Fair maintenance staff but continued to work part-time at Pleasanton Golf Center to help wherever he could. During this time, I was reminded of the youthful confidence and energy that he carried in his twenties but unfortunately it was short-lived as he was diagnosed with lung cancer in early 2019. After a hard fought battle, Juan passed in October.
 
His days were demanding and long but his energy and strength were always bigger. His workday always started before sunrise and often ended after sunset. He pushed to finish jobs when it would have been easy to complete the following day. Although his efforts can be seen throughout the property they may be most recognized by his recent involvement to develop “The Backyard” and the First Tee of the Tri-Valley practice facility.
 
I miss Big Juan everyday and cherish the years we spent together.
